About - Emil Todirașcu

BACKGROUND

My name is Emil Todirașcu and I'm 21 years old. I was born and raised in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. After high school, I moved to the Netherlands to study. That's where I am now; studying for a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Business Information Technology at the University of Twente.

PASSIONS

I have a very wide range of passions such as coding, gaming, stocks and music.

CODING

I like coding. I find it rewarding and I enjoy solving problems and learning new concepts. I also do coding challenges and managed to reach top ~1% of users on Codewars and I also solved over 100 problems on Leetcode.

GAMING

I like playing games. Some of my all time favourites are: Portal 1/2, Red Dead Redemption 2, APB: Reloaded, Team Fortress 2, League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. I hope to one day work on such a game.

STOCKS

I like economics and observing the stock market. I like reading about the economy, news about specific companies and new technologies. I find it fascinating to observe how the stock market reacts to news.

MUSIC

I like listening to music. I listen to a wide variety of music such as house, drum & bass, minimal, metal and electro swing. I listen to music almost daily as it helps me concentrate on work as well as relax.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

I have several technical skills that I have acquired through my studies and personal projects.

Python

Python is the language I am most confident with. I enjoy its simplicity and the fact that it is very readable.

JavaScript

JavaScript is a language I am fairly decent at. I used it for some of my projects during university and outside of it.

HTML/CSS

HTML and CSS are easy for me to write. I actually like CSS and I enjoy finding out about obscure features.

Java

Java is very versatile. I find it quite intuitive and easy to use. I used it for some of my university projects.

SQL

As boring as SQL is, I find it easy to write, aside from very advanced queries. I used it during university.

Others

I have also worked with things like C, Dart, Assembly and Haskell but I have very little experience with them.

SOFT SKILLS

I also have a couple of soft skills that help me in my day to day life.

COMMUNICATION

I am a good communicator. I can talk to people and understand them easily. I try to make sure my messages are concise and impactful in both writing and speaking.

PROBLEM SOLVING

I am a good problem solver and logical thinker. I like taking on different challenges and finding creative solutions, no matter the complexity.

TIME MANAGEMENT

I am a good time manager. I have no problem with organising myself and making sure I have enough time to do everything I need to, on time.

ADAPTABILITY

I am very adaptable. I can adjust to new environments and technologies easily. I am able to work in unfamiliar situations and embrace different perspectives.
